Linux Engineer in Mendota Heights, Minnesota

TAJ Technologies, Inc. is hiring a LINUX ENGINEER to support our client, a leader in the Loyalty Management industry.
 
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Duration: 3 months ? contract to perm
 
Job Responsibilities:
The primary role will be to perform systems analysis, implementation, engineering and 2rd Level/3rd level support for Linux based high-volume web hosting platforms in the cloud with the goal of bringing iterative improvement to our platforms and surrounding technologies.
Responsibilities/Relationships:
? Performs research, analysis, design, and implementation of technical solutions to meet current and future business requirements.
? Responsible for infrastructure components (including middleware & configuration) of application technical architecture, design and implementation, new client, business and IT projects, operational design, scaling, performance improvements, network and telecommunications design, database design, and process design.
? Provide guidance and oversight of technical processes improvements such as build and deployment processes, technical standards, and security requirements.
? Provide SME technical guidance for projects throughout the environment, guiding requirements, analysis, and new strategies to meet project goals.
? Perform 3rd level operational support when needed.
? Support of web hosting platforms (development through production) environments in the Amazon EC2 cloud.
? Assist in defining strategies to efficiently incorporate new clients and company acquisitions.
? Build collaborative relationships throughout the IT (development, operations, engineering, project management, application architecture) department, and throughout the business.
? Comfortable navigating network topology, administering firewall rule application port requests, and isolating network-related issues from application-related issues.
 
Preferred Skills / Experience:
? Bachelor Degree, with a technology or business emphasis, or equivalent education/experience.
? 5+ years of Cloud Computing, andor SaaS administration (preferred AWS EC2)
? 5+ years of LinuxUnix Systems Administration
? 4+ years of high-volume Apache web tier administration
? Strong work ethic, follow-through, detail-orientation, prioritization, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
? Production-tier, high volume SQL-compliant databases (ex: MySQL 5.1)
? VMWare ESX experience
? Engineering, architectural, and support experience of virtualized enterprise servers and systems in an HA configuration
? High volume capacity and 100%-uptime (SLA-based) environment engineering
? Experience working with large-scale 3rd party hosting providers and vendors
 
? PCI Compliance Desired
? 10+ years of system administration experience
? 10+ years of experience with Java application servers such as Apache Tomcat or Jboss
? Exposure to and understanding of web services, WSDL, and service-oriented architecture
? HTTPS and load balancing of HTTPS web servers
? Cloud scaling technologies (RightScale)
? Deployment and support of 3rd party applications, tools and consumer-facing products
? Experience with Unix scripting, Powershell, HTML, Java, JSP, Perl, and/or SQL
? Enterprise Service Bus application integration patterns
? Managing capacity planning and scaling models
? Familiarity with multiple relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL etc)
? Create and maintain Systems Architecture Diagrams, Process Documentation
? Experience with financial audit controls such as PCI, SSAE-16, SAS-70
? Prior experience in an application support role, understanding various application integration points with proven ability to troubleshoot, isolate and address issues
? LAN and WAN administration experience including monitoring, scaling, troubleshooting, tuning routers, firewalls, switches, load balancers, VPN, and storage area network (SAN)
